Indigenous Book Club: My Conversations with Canadians
Thursday, January 16th
Indigenous Book Club is a co-production of Whitehorse Public Library and the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre. This free program invites Indigenous and non-Indigenous participants to read works by Indigenous authors and then come together over food to discuss themes and ideas.
My Conversations with Canadians is a series of essays addressing questions the author has been asked by audiences over decades, on subjects such as citizenship, segregation, labour, law, prejudice and reconciliation. A number of books are available for this program on a first come, first served basis. It is not necessary to read the book in order to attend the discussion.
The program starts with a light supper provided by Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre. Traditional counsellor/support person Yvonne Jack will be available for smudging and other supports.
