A house fire has claimed the life of a longtime Whitehorse resident.
Chief Coroner Heather Jones says the fire happened early Wednesday in the Porter Creek area.
Jones says the lone occupant of the home was taken to Whitehorse General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The coroner's office is identifying the victim as longtime resident 61-year-old Catherine Rosaire Antaya.
Jones says the investigation continues with the help of the Fire Department and R-C-M-P.
