Yukon MP Larry Bagnell announced the support for the construction of a new Kwanlin Dün First Nation "Community Hub".
A community project in Whitehorse is getting a massive funding donation from the Federal Government.
Yukon MP Larry Bagnell announced the Government of Canada would be contributing 19.3 million dollars in funding toward the construction of a new Kwanlin Dün First Nation "Community Hub" in the McIntyre subdivision of Whitehorse.
"The new space will have many rooms and amenities such as an elders lounge, a cultural classroom, and a healing room. The hub will also provide spaces for art and special facilities for archival storage," said Bagnell.
K-D-F-N Chief Doris Bill says Citizens have been sharing their vision for the new hub since the beginning of the design phase.
"We are thrilled with the results of this design process, which has been paid for by Kwanlin Dun as part of our overall contribution to this project."
The Yukon Government is contributing 6.4 million to the project, and the K-D-F-N will contribute 3.2 million.
The project is set to be completed in the early winter of 2020.
