Money raised from CKRW's Retro Dance Party November 9th is now in the hands of the Whitehorse Food Bank and Kona's Coalition.
CKRW The RUSH is handing over proceeds from a recent fundraiser to the Whitehorse Food Bank and Kona's Coalition.
General Manager Eva Bidrman and morning host Bobby Ferris handed over cheques for $4,853.01 to both groups Monday morning. The money was raised at November 9th's Retro Dance Party.
Food Bank Executive Director Dave Blotter says the cheque means a lot especially heading into the Christmas season.
"A little bit of money goes a long way, and a lot of money goes a little bit further," Blottner said. "Right now, this money is really going to help us towards getting turkeys and Christmas food for families as we come up to the Christmas season. As well as just helping keep the lights on and the day-to-day operations of the Food Bank."

Jordi Mikeli-Jones with Kona's Coalition says she was surprised at the amount.
"Specifically, this is going to fund our grant program (as) we offer low-income assistance for families in need of emergency vet services," Mikeli-Jones said. We received nearly $5,000 and we are very pleased to share this with the Food Bank as well. I think it's going to go a long distance to helping Yukon animals in need."
The party and fundraiser were held in conjunction with CKRW's 50th-anniversary celebration.
