Pay Raise For Whse Council?

One Whitehorse City Councilor expects to get a lot of flack as council considers a pay raise.

Administration is recommending the Mayor's compensation go from 74-thousand dollars to just under 79-thousand, with a car allowance bumping up the final figure to 84-thousand 100.

Councilor's pay would rise from 18-thousand to 19-thousand 600 with an increase of per diems as well.

Ranj Pillai says it's a losing battle for politicians to justify voting themselves a pay increase.

Council votes on moving forward with a potential bylaw at Monday's meeting.

If approved, the changes would come in November 1st, after the Municipal Election.
