Yukon RCMP reported Vaclav Jones is missing and was last seen boating in the Nisutlin River near Teslin
YUKON – The Yukon RCMP is seeking public assistance in locating Vaclav Jonas, who was reported missing on August 16.
A Czech Republic man named Vaclav Jonas was reported missing after being separated from his group while boating on the Nisutlin River, 200 km from Teslin.
Yukon RCMP report Jones was aboard a boat that was overturned on the river. Jones doesn’t speak much English and is visiting the territory from the Czech Republic.
The 73 year old man is described by police as a caucasian man, 6’1″ and 200 pounds. He has white hair that’s short on the sides and is worn in a ponytail. He also has blue eyes.
At the time the boat capsized, Jones was wearing a black jacket and black pants.
Yukon Search and Rescue, Tatshenshini Expediting, Capitol Helicopters, and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans are all involved in the search. According to the RCMP, the Czech Embassy in Ottawa has also been keeping up to speed on the continuing investigation.
