2022 was a challenging year for the Yukon
Community Services Minister Richard Mostyn calls 2022 a year like no other for fires and floods.
Mostyn was speaking in the legislature on Thursday as he described the record-breaking season.
“The impacts are real and the Yukon is not immune. This year throughout the territory we saw record snowpack, rapid melt and high groundwater. The emergency measures team supported 13 communities that experienced flooding and around 60 fires threatened communities and transportation infrastructure in every fire zone in the territory.”
Yukon Party MLA Patti McLeod, though, told Mostyn she thought the government could have done better.
