Two people are facing a number of charges after a string of break and enters, and vehicle theft, in Wolf Creek on Monday, September 18th.
WHITEHORSE – Two people are in custody following the theft of a car and a string of break and enters in the Wolf Creek Area on Monday, September 18th.
On Monday morning, Whitehorse RCMP received a call regarding the theft of a vehicle. Witness descriptions identified 25 year old Osheana Kuster and 40 year old Bobby Ward, both of Whitehorse. An initial search of the area did not locate the suspects.
Calls continued relating to property crimes involving similar suspects continued to pour in over the next few hours, culminating at 3pm in the afternoon, when Whitehorse RCMP received a tip-off about a break and enter involving the suspects that was currently in progress. Officers were dispatched to the scene, alongside the Police Dog Service and the General Investigation Service of the Whitehorse detachment. There was a brief check-stop in place along the Alaska highway as officers searched the area.
RCMP were able to locate and arrest the pair, and police have confirmed there was no threat to the public as a result of the action.
Osheana Kuster and Bobby Ward remain in custody facing a laundry list of charges, Including:
- Two counts, break and enter to a dwelling house, contrary to section 348(1)(b), Criminal Code;
- Two counts, theft under $5000, contrary to section 334(b), Criminal Code;
- Resist police officers in the execution of their duty, contrary to section 129(a) Criminal Code;
- Theft of motor vehicle, contrary to section 333.1 Criminal Code;
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) Criminal Code.
Bobby Ward faces the additional charges of:
- Breach of probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) Criminal Code
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, contrary to section 320.13(1) Criminal Code.
Their first court date was on Tuesday, September 19th, after which they were both remanded in custody to await further court appearances.
