If there’s one thing you can say about rock ‘n’ roll, it’s that it’s a genre that’s never been short on talent or drama. And sometimes that talent is generational. I’m talking about the kids of legendary rockstars who’ve inherited at least some of their parent’s musical skills. Here’s just a few:
1. The Dylans – Bob Dylan & Jakob Dylan
Bob Dylan, the legendary folk and rock icon, needs no introduction. But have you heard of his son Jakob Dylan? Jakob’s band, The Wallflowers, achieved massive success in the ’90s with hits like “One Headlight.” He’s earned his stripes with a Grammy win for Best Rock Song in 1996. rock
2. The Lennons – John Lennon & Sean Lennon
John Lennon also needs no introduction. His son, Sean Lennon, carries on his father’s musical tradition. Blending rock, folk, and experimental sounds, Sean has carved his own niche in the industry. Also the family resemblance is uncanny.
3. The Allmans – Gregg Allman & Devon Allman
Gregg Allman, the soulful voice behind The Allman Brothers Band, was an iconic figure in Southern rock. His son Devon Allman is no slouch either, fronting his own band, Devon Allman’s Honeytribe, and even collaborating with legendary musicians like Ringo Starr.
4. The Marleys – Bob Marley & Ziggy Marley
The reggae legend Bob Marley’s legacy lives on through his son Ziggy Marley, a Grammy-winning artist in his own right. Ziggy’s commitment to social and political issues through his music mirrors his father’s activism, making him a fitting torchbearer of the Marley name.
Who’s your go to rockstar kid? Lemme know!
Till next week.
