Whitehorse, YT – Statistics Canada has released data on First-time homebuyers in the Yukon for 2020.
The data shows the number of first time home buyers dropped year-over-year by 7.1%, from 280 first time buyers in 2019, to 260 in 2020.
During the same peroid, the data showed an increase of 6.3% in those who were not first time buyers, from 875 in 2019 to 930 in 2020.
The stats show that those who were first time buyers had a higher price-to-income ratio, while those who were not first time buyers paid a higher median price.
The total real estate transactions for 2020 saw a slight 0.6% decline, but the number of homebuyers increased by 3.0%, suggesting more multi-buyer transactions in 2020.
