WHITEHORSE, YT – The Whitehorse RCMP have asked the public to avoid the Granger area of Whitehorse due to an ongoing incident.
Hamilton Boulevard was closed to traffic from Falcon Drive to Robert Service Way to support the RCMP response. The Granger area has since reopened to the public as of 5pm, May 13th, however northbound and southbound lanes along Hamilton Boulevard remain closed. RCMP says alternate routes may be necessary to transit through the area.
The Whitehorse RCMP had warned the public not to engage with a male in the area wearing a dark hoodie and carrying a red bag. RCMP had asked that anyone who encounters this individual to call 911 immediately.
The RCMP have since confirmed there is no further threat to the pubic, and they will provide more updates when they are available.
RCMP have maintained a heavy presence in the Granger area.
