WHITEHORSE, YT – The Yukon RCMP is warning that the Alaska Highway has been closed about 70kms north of Teslin due to a serious motor vehicle collision with fatalities.
The RCMP say they received preliminary reports of a serious two vehicle collision in the vicinity of Squanga Lake at around 3:40pm Wednesday afternoon.
Details on the nature of the crash and how many people are involved remain scarce at this time, but the RCMP have confirmed there are fatalities.
The Alaska Highway has been closed in both directions, with reports of a significant back-up of traffic in the area. Travelers should keep an eye on 511 Yukon for up to date information on highway closures.

Update: As of 10 p.m. on June 19th, traffic has been opened to one lane.
