Whitehorse, YT – Depending on weather conditions, smoke from two wildfires near Whitehorse may be visible to those traveling on the Alaska Highway.
Both fires do not pose a threat to any communities.
The first fire is roughly 400 hectares and was reported on July 1st. The fire is located 62 kilometers northeast of Teslin and Yukon Protective Services (YPS) says it could create smoky conditions on the Teslin River.
The second fire was reported on June 28th and is approximately 1996 hectares. The fire is located 56 kilometers east of Whitehorse.
YPS says they may be intermittently visible depending on fire conditions.
