Whitehorse, YT – Whitehorse RCMP is investigating a series of break-and-enters overnight on Wednesday, July 17th, impacting three downtown restaurants and a towing company.
The Yukon RCMP Forensic Identification Section is investigating break-and-enters at Kita Japanese Kitchen + Bar’s, boba tea shop, Pickapeppa, both on 2nd Ave, and the Farm and Social on Ogilvie Street. Windows and doors were smashed to gain entry. Investigations are ongoing as to what was stolen.
The Farm and Social opened their doors for the first time the day of the break-in.
Police had responded to a call for a break-and-enter at Pickapeppa at around 11 p.m. but couldn’t find the perpetrator.
Another call was placed, citing loud noises and vehicles revving engines at Capital Towing’s compound in the industrial area. Two vehicles were stolen at approximately 4 a.m. on July 18th and both are described as white Ford F-150s with one having a black canopy on it. The City of Whitehorse’s compound on Tlingit Street was also accessed.
“It is not known at this time if these incidents are connected, that is certainly something that would be considered and part of the investigation,” reads the RCMP release.
Police ask that you contact them if you have any information, or dashcam footage or were in the downtown area from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m., particularly between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. You can reach out to Crimestoppers if you wish to remain anonymous.
