Whitehorse, YT – Yesterday, Rolf Hougen, founder of the Hougen Group of Companies, passed away peacefully at the age of 95, surrounded by his family.
A distinguished businessman and proud Yukoner, Mr. Hougen’s ventures reflected his deep love for the territory and his remarkable ability to recognize opportunities both within the community and across Canada. Mr. Hougen was also instrumental in bringing television and commercial radio to the north, and with the help of a small, dedicated staff, launched CKRW on November 17th, 1969.
