WHITEHORSE, YT – The Yukon’s Department of Health and Social Services has confirmed that due to a data entry error, some Yukon seniors had recieved less than they were eligible for on October’s Senior’s Income Supplement payment.
The Department says immediate action has been taken to ensure YSIS recipients get the amount they’re owed, and they have confirmed the issue will not affect November’s payments.
According to Department officials, the problem has been identified and payment discrepancies have been calculated. One-time payments to correct the mistake will be offered, which are expected to be processed in the coming days.
The Department will also be sending letters to all recipients of the Yukon Seniors Income Supplement with more details.
