WHITEHORSE, YT – Earthquakes Canada has confirmed a magnitude 4.7 earthquake had struck the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia at 1:26PM on Friday, February 21st, 2025.
The epicenter was recorded 1km below ground, around 24kms North Northeast of Sechelt, BC.
The quake was felt by a significant number of people across British Columbia, with Earthquakes Canada noting that reports of shaking came in from as far away as Prince George, BC.
There were no reports of any earthquake related injuries or damages in the Province.
This story has been updated to reflect that the earthquake was a 4.7 magnitude. Early online reports indicated 5.4 magnitude.
