WHITEHORSE, YT – The Yukon Government has struck a deal with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to issue more work permits to prospective applicants of the Yukon Nominee Program.
The Government says foreign nationals who were living and working in the Yukon as of May 16th, 2024, and whose work permits have expired since January 1st this year, or will expire by December 31st, will still be able to apply for a new Yukon-specific work permit, valid for two years.
This only applies to foreign nationals who are currently established in the Yukon, and employers must plan to nominate them for permanent residency through the program this year or next.
The Government says, it will provide eligible applicants with a letter of support to go along with their work permit application to IRCC. Applications for letters of support open on Wednesday, March 19th at 9:00AM with a deadline of April 2nd at 4:30PM.
