Whitehorse, YT – One person died after a training flight involving a Horizon Helicopters aircraft crashed near Whitehorse last Friday.
The helicopter, an Airbus AS350B, was carrying two crew members when it crashed roughly 10 kilometers east of the Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport.
“Our heartfelt condolences are extended to the family of the deceased,” reads a Horizon Helicopters Facebook post. “Out of respect for their privacy and in support of our team, we kindly ask for privacy during this difficult time.”
On Saturday, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) announced that they deployed a team of investigators to assess the accident.
May 6th Update: The Yukon Coroners Service says the crash claimed the life of a 47-year-old pilot from Alberta.
