Whitehorse, YT – Yukon RCMP have seized a shipment of liquor and suspected crack cocaine at the Whitehorse airport that was heading for the dry community of Old Crow.
Police were alerted by Air North on May 6 about a suspicious cargo package. Officers seized 24 375 mL bottles and three 1.14-litre bottles of vodka, along with a quantity of suspected crack cocaine.
Kaushee Marie Williams, 47, of Whitehorse, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and attempting to send liquor to a prohibited community under the Yukon Liquor Act.
Police say the drugs and alcohol will be destroyed.
