Whitehorse, YT – An evacuation alert has been lifted for Old Crow after officials confirmed the Porcupine River has dropped below flood levels and the risk of ice jam flooding has passed.
The Yukon Government says that residents evacuated on Saturday have returned home and the reception centre at the school has closed with classes set to resume today.
While water levels may fluctuate due to snowmelt, no flooding is expected.
The joint Emergency Management Team is now removing flood barriers and assessing damage.
An update on the Yukon Government’s emergencies page from Sunday afternoon states that the Dump Road is open to one-lane traffic and water systems are operating normally, though residents are asked to conserve water.
