Whitehorse, YT – A routine traffic stop on June 6 led to a significant firearms and drugs bust by Whitehorse RCMP.
Police responded to a report of two men possibly using drugs in a vehicle around 8:35 p.m. and did a traffic stop. Officers arrested both men and seized a loaded restricted handgun, a second firearm, suspected cocaine, cash and a scale.
Search warrants conducted the next day at a Whitehorse residence uncovered an additional 23 firearms —including a restricted handgun, rifles, and shotguns— along with prohibited magazines, thousands of rounds of ammunition, two crossbows and a compound bow.
Police also seized suspected fentanyl, cocaine, cash and eight cell phones.
Brett Darrell Brandon Demchuk, 22, and Dustin David Foss, 36, both of Whitehorse, face numerous firearms and drug-related charges.
RCMP thank the public for reporting the initial incident.
