Whitehorse, YT – Yukon RCMP are investigating two separate fatal crashes that occurred just days apart on the Alaska Highway south of Whitehorse.
The first happened Friday morning, June 13, around 8:24 a.m., roughly three kilometres south of the Lewes River bridge near kilometre 1390. A truck with two men from Alaska rolled over while heading northbound.
The driver died at the scene; the passenger suffered minor injuries.
Two days later, on Sunday, June 15, emergency crews responded to another crash near kilometre 1356. A motorhome carrying a man and woman from Arizona left the road around 2:11 p.m.
Both were taken to Whitehorse General Hospital, where the male passenger died.
Police say neither speed nor alcohol appear to have been factors. Investigations are ongoing with the Yukon Coroner’s Service.
