Whitehorse, YT – The Yukon Fire Marshal’s Office has announced a new partnership with Wounded Warriors Canada to provide mental health support and services for Yukon’s structural firefighters, fire chiefs, and their families.
The new services will blend education, counselling, and training approaches, aimed at fostering resilience and aiding recovery from post-traumatic injuries. Services will be available to current and former members of the Yukon fire service, including volunteer and professional firefighters and members of scene safety response units, as well as their family members.
The program includes counselling, access to service dogs, and workplace training.
In a news release, Wounded Warriors Canada noted that no single organization can offer a complete solution to operational stress injuries, and so partnerships like this one are vital.
