Whitehorse, YT – The Yukon Government is extending the wildfire season as unseasonably warm temperatures and strong winds keep the territory at risk.
Four recent blazes have been confirmed as human-caused, and while fall colours are setting in, forest fuels remain dangerously dry.
Officials say two helicopters will remain on standby to help crews respond quickly to new fires.
Residents are being urged to take extra care with campfires — never leaving them unattended and ensuring they are completely out.
