Whitehorse, YT – Yukoners should brace for gusty winds this afternoon and evening as a low-pressure system moves in from the Gulf of Alaska.
Forecasters say winds could reach 60 km/h, with gusts up to 70-80 km/h, affecting Whitehorse, Haines Junction, Faro, Teslin, the South Klondike Highway and other communities in southern Yukon. Winds are expected to ease overnight.
Weather office officials warn the strong winds could bring down tree branches, cause power outages and toss loose objects.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution and adjust for changing road conditions.
