Whitehorse, YT – Yukoners can expect their phones, radios and TVs to sound off tomorrow afternoon.
The Yukon’s Emergency Measures Organization will take part in a national test of the AlertReady system at about 1:55 p.m. The test is expected to take place at the same time in B.C.
Officials say the message will clearly indicate that it’s only a test. In a real emergency, the alert would state that it is not a test.
People in Old Crow and other communities with only 3G wireless service won’t receive the alert on their cellphones.
The government says regular testing helps ensure urgent information can reach residents in the event of an actual emergency.
