Whitehorse, YT – Premier Currie Dixon has named multiple key leadership appointments in several departments following his swearing in on Saturday.
Veteran public servants Paul Moore and Kelvin Leary will continue in their roles, with Moore’s term as Deputy Minister of Economic Development extended to next May, and Leary remaining Deputy Minister of the Executive Council Office until 2030.
Sierra van der Meer has been appointed Deputy Minister of Tourism and Culture, while continuing her role with the Women and Gender Equity Directorate.
New appointments include Katherine White as Deputy Minister of Finance, replacing the retired Jessica Schultz, Catherine Jones as President of the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board for a five-year term, and Jeff O’Farrell as Deputy Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources, effective Jan. 6.
A Yukon Government press release states that Deputy Ministers oversee departmental budgets, operations and program delivery, serving at the pleasure of the Premier.
