Whitehorse, YT – Whitehorse’s own hockey star Gavin McKenna has been charged with aggravated assault and several other offences following an incident in State College, Pennsylvania.
CKRW viewed court records, which show the 18-year-old McKenna is charged with felony aggravated assault, along with misdemeanour simple assault, disorderly conduct, engaging in fighting and harassment.
The charges stem from an incident reported on Saturday, Jan. 31. The criminal charges were filed yesterday by State College police.
McKenna spent three seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers before committing to the Penn State Nittany Lions. This season, he has 11 goals and 21 assists with Penn State.
He has also played for Team Canada twice during the World Junior Hockey Championship and secured bronze earlier this year.
