Whitehorse, YT – Whitehorse RCMP say there was no threat to public safety after responding to a concerning social media post involving a student at Porter Creek Secondary School.
Police were called just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday and went to the school as they launched an uttering threats investigation. Officers stayed for about an hour while they assessed the situation.
Mounties say the investigation found no direct threat and confirm there were no firearms in the school.
RCMP say they’re working with school officials to support students and families, and are reminding young people to tell a trusted adult if they see something troubling online. Police are also urging the public to avoid speculation and rely on verified information.
