Whitehorse, YT – Yukon RCMP say they’ve seized significant amounts of suspected cocaine in two separate incidents last week.
Police say officers intercepted a package on Feb. 13, containing about one kilogram of what’s believed to be cocaine, before it reached its destination. Forty-year-old Lucy Jacobson of Whitehorse has been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance as a result.
Later that same day, an off-duty officer found roughly four ounces of what’s believed to be crack cocaine in a wooded area of Whitehorse. The drugs were seized. Police say the two incidents are not believed to be connected.
RCMP are reminding the public not to touch suspicious packages and to report them to police. The investigation continues.
