Whitehorse, YT – Yukon Energy says some customers may notice changes to their bills after this winter’s deep freeze forced the utility to rely on estimated meter readings.
According to a posting on the Yukon Energy website, during December and January, extreme cold made it unsafe for meter readers to access some homes, so bills were based on past usage. Now that actual readings are coming in, the company is reviewing accounts and making adjustments.
Yukon Energy says the process may result in billing delays or revised statements for some residents. The utility says it’s working through a backlog of accounts.
