Whitehorse, YT – RCMP in Whitehorse say no charges have been laid after officers executed a search warrant tied to a report of a handgun.
Police say the search occurred last Sunday at a home in Whitehorse’s Granger neighbourhood after a man was reportedly seen with a handgun. Officers located a realistic-looking black semi-automatic pistol, which was later determined to be an imitation.
Mounties are reminding the public that using or carrying a replica firearm during a crime carries the same penalties as a real weapon and can pose serious safety risks.
