Whitehorse, YT – Yukon’s emergency alert system will be tested Wednesday as part of a nationwide drill.
The Government of Yukon says the AlertReady test will be issued at about 1:55 p.m., reaching cellphones on 4G networks and higher, as well as radio and television. Devices on 3G or older networks will not receive the alert.
The test is part of coordinated checks across Canada, with the exception of Quebec.
Officials say it is meant to ensure the system is working properly and to remind residents how emergency alerts are delivered during events such as wildfires and floods.
