Whitehorse, YT – Dawson City’s publicly owned cable television service has officially gone off the air.
The service ended operations on May 31 after more than four decades on the air, with DCTV posting a farewell message on Facebook thanking subscribers and the City of Dawson for its support.
The municipality previously approved plans to shut down the service, citing declining subscriptions and rising operating costs as more residents switched to streaming services.
The closure marks the end of one of Yukon’s longest-running local television services, which has operated in Dawson City since 1984.
