Yukon RCMP are investigating a tragic hit-and-run leaving a 27-year-old dead just west of Watson Lake
WATSON LAKE – A fatal hit and run on the Alaska Highway just west of a southern Yukon community launches an investigation by RCMP.
A collection of Yukon RCMP divisions and other supporting units are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision on the Alaska Highway 2km west of Watson Lake. A 27-year-old man lost his life in the incident.
A member of the public reported the event to police around 12:10 a.m. on April 15, 2023. The Watson Lake Detachment and Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the site. The highway was stopped for a time while the inquiry was carried out. The roadway reopened completely on April 15 in the afternoon.
Investigators also request that anyone with dashboard video cameras travelling the Alaska Highway between Whitehorse and Watson Lake, both west and eastbound, between midnight and 5 am on April 15th, to contact the RCMP.
