Transportation improvements are coming to Whitehorse’s Chilkoot Way
WHITEHORSE – Pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users will see some improvements done to Chilkoot Way.
Chilkoot Way between the Two Mile Hill and Riverfront multi-use walkways is receiving active transportation enhancements from the City of Whitehorse. The initiative will improve walking, cycling, and transit users’ safety and overall user experience.
The Chilkoot Way Active Transportation Improvements project will include a two-way protected bicycle lane and upgraded transit infrastructure on the north side of Chilkoot Way. The renovation will be completed quickly and with as little inconvenience to the corridor as possible, according to the city.
The construction will begin with new pavement markings and temporary delineators (pylons). The second phase will feature permanent barriers, asphalt, and concrete and will begin in August, just before the start of the school year.
