The Whitehorse RCMP is looking for a group of people who are alleged to have been involved in two assaults over the Canada Day long weekend
WHITEHORSE – The Whitehorse RCMP is asking the public for assistance in identifying a group of people who are alleged to have been involved in two assaults over the Canada Day long weekend
Around 3:10 am on July 3rd, police attended a downtown gas station related to a complaint of an assault, where a shoplifter allegedly assaulted a staff member after being confronted. The staff member confronted a shoplifter and asked them to remove the merchandise from their pants, to which they were assaulted by the individual.
While police officers spoke with the initial victim, a taxi driver approached to say that he had also just been assaulted in the area around Two Mile Hill and Chilkoot Way by an individual matching the description of the first attacker.
The driver says the group of people punched him in the face several times, damaged equipment in the taxi, and stole his cell phone from his hand.
Police describe the group of suspects as three men, two women, all estimated to be in their late teens. Two were wearing hoodies; Three were using scooters, two were walking.
