Whitehorse, YT – Whitehorse Medical Services will close by mid-April, with Drs. Zale Apramian and Lia Johnson permanently ending their practices on April 21st, leaving patients to transition to new healthcare providers.
The closure, prompted by personal and professional factors, requires patients to arrange alternative care before the deadline.
The other 11 physicians will be moving their practices to Equinox Health and Klondyke Medical.
Patients of Drs. Apramian and Johnson are advised to explore options such as the Yukon Government’s “Find a Family Doctor Program,” the Constellation Clinic, or the Whitehorse Walk-In Clinic and Yukon Women’s MidLife Health Clinic.
“We understand that this closure may be challenging for some patients,” reads a notice on Whitehorse Medical Services’ website. “Our team is committed to providing support during this transition.”
Drs. Apramian and Johnson encourage their patients to schedule appointments before April 21 to address ongoing concerns and update medications. Notification letters with further instructions will be sent to all affected patients.
For urgent medical needs, patients are told to visit the Whitehorse General Hospital Emergency Department.
