WHITEHORSE, YT – Yukon Hospitals has warned the public that surgeries previously planned and scheduled for Monday, February 3rd and Tuesday, February 4th, at the Whitehorse General Hospital have been cancelled.
Yukon Hospitals says the decision was made in the name of patient safety, as Whitehorse General is currently unable to clean and reprocess it’s surgical instruments and needs to conserve it’s resources so it can still respond to an emergency if need be.
If the situation persists, Yukon Hospitals says other scheduled surgeries may be adjusted throughout the week, but those who notice a change in their condition should still contact their medical provider as soon as possible.
Yukon Hospitals adds, OR staff will contact affected patients directly if there has been a change to their scheduled appointments.
