WHITEHORSE, YT – Ahead of the tabling of Budget 2025-26, the Yukon Government has announced that an increased rebate on residential electricity bills may be coming into effect later this year, subject to legislative approval.
The Government says if it’s approved, a new Winter Electrical Affordability Rebate will come into effect in October, 2025, replacing the existing Interim Electrical Rebate.
The new electricity rebate would cover up to $33.77 per month from October through March, to offset electrical costs when demands are typically the highest.
Funds earmarked for the existing Interim Electrical Rebate will be reallocated to the new Winter Electrical Affordability Rebate, plus an additional $350,000 increase, for a total of $3.85 million.
