UPDATE: Whitehorse RCMP says that Godfrey has been located deceased.
The RCMP and Godfrey’s family extend their gratitude to Yukon Search and Rescue and the numerous volunteers who assisted in the search efforts.
WHITEHORSE, YT – The Whitehorse RCMP are still searching for missing 79-year-old Porter Creek man, David Eric Godfrey, who had been reported missing on the night of Sunday, March 16th. Yukon Search and Rescue has been engaged and is assisting with the search, including with helicopters. A Search and Rescue command center has also been established on the corner of Sycamore and Beech streets in Porter Creek.
The RCMP have asked residents of Whitehorse to check around their properties for signs of footprints or anything that seems out of place, including inside outbuilding, vehicles, recreational vehicles, and things like campers and trailers.
David Eric Godfrey has been described as 5′ 6″, with an average build and a big white beard. RCMP note that he walks slowly and usually with a cane, although he is not believed to have his cane at this time. RCMP add Mr. Godfrey is not wearing clothes suitable for cold weather, may not being wearing shoes, and may also appear disoriented.
Godfrey was last seen last night in the Porter Creek area of Whitehorse, between 6:00pm and 7:00pm. He was last seen wearing a red jacket, black and red toque and brown pants.
RCMP have asked anyone with information on the whereabouts of David Eric Godfrey to contact the Whitehorse RCMP detachment immediately, adding that they are very concerned for his wellbeing.
