WHITEHORSE, YT – ATCO Electric Yukon says the power will be out in some sections of Watson Lake until noontime on March 19th, as crews work to repair damage caused by a dump truck colliding with overhead infrastructure.
The outage began around 3:00pm on March 18th, with ATCO Crews immediately dispatched to the scene.
ATCO says most customers should have had their power restored by 4:30PM, but around 20 customers, including the local school, will be without electricity until mid-day on March 19th in order to complete repairs.
The company says they have contacted affected customers directly.
Meanwhile, the Yukon Government has warned that 911 services may be disrupted by the extended outage, and they have advised residents of Watson Lake in need of urgent medical assistance to go directly to the Watson Lake Hospital for care if they can’t get though to 911.
