Whitehorse, YT – RCMP have laid charges in connection with a fatal single-vehicle crash last fall at the Lewes River Bridge.
The collision happened on Sept. 16, 2024, when a pickup truck pulling a trailer left the Alaska Highway and plunged into the Yukon River. One passenger, Knate Ostenso, a U.S. citizen from Arizona, died in the incident. The driver, Seth Michael Jorgensen, also from the U.S., escaped the vehicle without injury.
Ostenso’s body was recovered on Oct 7, 2024.
Following an investigation by the RCMP’s General Investigation Section in Whitehorse, Jorgensen has been charged with careless driving. He is scheduled to appear in Territorial Court in Whitehorse on Oct 8.
