Whitehorse, YT – Yukon’s police watchdog is investigating after a man was injured during an arrest by Whitehorse RCMP last month.
The incident occurred on June 23rd when officers were responding to multiple complaints about a man entering private yards without permission. Upon locating the suspect, police allege the man tried to flee and was combative during the arrest. He suffered injuries, including a broken bone.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the incident the following day.
Four officers were involved and two have been designated as subject officers. RCMP have provided body-worn camera footage to ASIRT as part of the investigation.
