Whitehorse, YT – Six Royal Canadian Air Force helicopters will be transiting through the North next week en route to a major Arctic military exercise in Alaska.
The CH-146 Griffon helicopters will fly from Edmonton to Fort Wainwright, near Fairbanks, between Jan. 26 and 28 to take part in Exercise Striking Bat, a large multinational training exercise focused on Arctic and sub-Arctic operations.
The exercise runs until late February and includes Canadian forces working alongside U.S. Army units and international partners from Norway, Italy, and Mongolia.
The military says people along the route may notice increased aircraft noise, but all flights are carefully planned and will operate at safe altitudes.
