Fighter jets were from Alaska base
The American military have confirmed that it was one of their F-22s that made an emergency landing at the Whitehorse Airport on Tuesday.
In an email to the Rush, Major Henry Lancaster says “two U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptors from Alaska, made an emergency landing at Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport.
One of the F-22s had an engine malfunction that resulted in it being unable to continue its flight to Alaska, and the second F-22 was also diverted to provide mutual support and assistance.
Lancaster said the Whitehorse International Airport was the safest, closest, and most suitable airport for the F-22s unplanned landing location.
