Whitehorse, YT – Prosecutors in Pennsylvania are dropping a felony aggravated assault charge against Whitehorse hockey star Gavin McKenna after reviewing video evidence.
State College police had originally charged McKenna following an alleged altercation near the Penn State campus last weekend, where a 21-year-old man was reportedly struck in the face and suffered jaw fractures requiring surgery.
The district attorney’s office now says the evidence does not meet the legal threshold for aggravated assault, and the felony aggravated assault charge will be dropped.
Misdemeanor simple assault and summary charges, including harassment and disorderly conduct, will still move forward.
