Whitehorse, YT – Team Yukon ended the 2026 Arctic Winter Games on a high note, finishing second overall in the medal standings.
The hometown team took 174 medals, including 57 golds, 65 silvers and 52 bronzes. Team Yukon’s standings marked an improvement over its 161-medal haul from the 2024 Mat-Su Games, including a jump in silver medals from 45 to 65.
Alaska led at this year’s games, with 227 medals, while Alberta North and the Northwest Territories rounded out the top four.
Yukon’s athletes had some standout performances to cap the final day of competition. Gold was captured in the U18 boys’ futsal, U18 biathlon and snowshow relays, ski-cross with Kyana Farfield and Josephine de Jager. The girls’ volleyball team also snagged a comeback 16-14 win over Team Alberta North to take the gold.
Silver and bronze medals also came in basketball, volleyball, hockey, cross-country skiing, archery and speed skating.
