Whitehorse, YT — Fuel prices climbed sharply across Yukon in April, according to the latest Yukon Bureau of Statistics survey.
In Whitehorse, regular self-serve gasoline averaged nearly $1.94 per litre in April, up more than 20 per cent from a year earlier. Similar increases were reported across the territory, while diesel prices also rose in every Yukon community surveyed.
The report says higher global oil prices and supply chain disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have driven fuel costs up since March. The increases came despite the end of the federal consumer carbon tax and Ottawa’s suspension of federal excise taxes on gasoline and diesel last month.
Home heating costs also continued to rise across Yukon. Furnace oil prices increased in every community compared with April 2025, with the largest jump reported in Ross River. In Whitehorse, furnace oil averaged just over $2.02 per litre in April.
